Equipment
First you need a good soap recipe:
Fats and/or oils
Water (preferably distilled)
Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH — Lye)
Other necessities:
Soap mold or item to use for a soap mold.
A liner for your mold. (Freezer paper or a plastic trash bag. )
Fragrance or essential oil (Optional)
Colorant (Optional)
An Instant read, or candy thermometer
A stainless steel pot or large mixing bowl ( glass or plastic may also be used, but do not use aluminum)
A one quart or larger or a large plastic pitcher.
A sharp knife with a thin blade for cutting soap into bars
Packing tapeor scotch tape
Must have safety equipment needed:
A long sleeve shirt
Rubber gloves
Safety goggles
Long pants and shoes
Other items you may need:
Vinegar
Paper towels or old rags.
